Pregnancy – The First Signs

There is a lot to cover for pregnancy, so I will try and break it up into chunks that are easy to read and digest. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions should you have any. Its important to feel confident and informed, this is an important time in a womans life.

The first glimpse of what life will be like in the future when you first find out you are pregnant is not always fun. I think this is because a lot of what pregnant woman and mums go through is kept between only those that know. Kind of like it is a secret. A secret club or society you join and you can only join once you are pregnant and there is no turning back.

I do not know if it is simply because if you have not experienced it that it is too hard to explain or understand. If some woman think they will either scare potential mums-to-be or feel its too private to share.

These are some of the issues many pregnant woman experience and this is by no means the extent of it, these are really only some:

  • Peeing every hour of the day and night
  • Backache
  • Spotting
  • Hip pain
  • Swelling
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Pregnancy mask
  • Linea Nigra
  • Stretch marks
  • Hair growth
  • Nail growth
  • Hunger and cravings
  • Emotions
  • Brain function
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Energy levels
  • Pimples

Most woman find out they are pregnant via a missing red monthly friend. Once this monster doesn’t show up, it is normally a week or two. Then it that turns into, hmmmm, something is not right here…

Buying a pregnancy test was so daunting, and it is like buying any commercial product, they all say different things,  have different packets and different prices. But for those that do not know how the pregnancy test works, it is determined from a certain hormone that is only in the urine or blood when you are pregnant. The hormone is called human chorionic gonadotropin or hCG. This is why pregnancy tests can claim to be so accurate, because they really are.

Some woman are unlucky enough to start experiencing pregnancy symptoms early and well before they realise they are pregnant. Normally starts with nausea and vomiting, also fairly early on your breasts will start to grow, a lot…
